Skyh Black & KJ Smith’s Love Story

KJ Smith and Skyh Black first connected on the set of Tyler Perry’s “Sistas,” but they didn’t begin officially dating until January 2021. Their romance was swift and heartfelt with the two announcing their engagement later in December during the holiday season. Their fairy-tale love culminated in a beautiful (and viral) wedding ceremony on September 2023 in Malibu. Both Black’s outfit, Smith’s dress, their dance moves and fun times at the reception made headlines shortly after.
Fast forward to 2025 and the two are still going strong despite any of the online criticism. Smith would go on to share in January that the two were expecting their first bundle of joy with her later revealing that it was a little girl during the 2025 BET Awards red carpet. Now, as her due date nears in September, the two are putting down roots in a new city and switching coasts.
Why the Move From L.A. to Atlanta

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Black and Smith explained their reasoning behind their decision to uproot their lives from Hollywood to the South, citing the need to be around their familial support system and for work.
“We always toyed with the idea of moving back to the South, just to be closer to our families,” Black explained. “So, when she got pregnant, we said, ‘Okay, look, we’re going to need help.’ And it was very important for our kids to grow up around family, because everybody’s on the East Coast. We were the only ones on the West Coast. So, that was our biggest decision.”
The couple also noted that they’d been living and working in Atlanta off and on for the last five years so it naturally felt like the right move.
Front View

The front of their home just really shows how nice and sprawling the property is. It’s classic but just fresh enough and we’re here for it!
Massive Driveway and Landscaping

You can imagine the amazing house parties they can throw here as there’s plenty of room for guests to park (and show off) their cars. Or once the function is over, there’s enough space for a good, old-fashioned photo opp that’s all encompassing of both the grandeur of the home and the amount of people!
Grand Entryway

Talk about setting the tone when you first walk in! Being greeted by a giant staircase like this really let’s you know you’re in a for a treat as far as the rest of the home is concerned!
Indoor Pool

Admittedly Black’s favorite part of the home, the indoor pool gives just enough of that indoor, outdoor flair to make it an enjoyable experience no matter the weather nor time of the day.
Outdoor Fountain

Imagine a crisp, fall morning, and you’re sitting on your front porch (more on that soon) looking at the random forrest animals and this beautiful fountain. That’s what you call peace.
Front Porch

(Author’s note: Maybe it’s because of my own Southern roots, but seeing a long, open porch like this just screams serenity and calls for a nice cup of something and ample time to unwind.)
Movie Room

Is it really a mansion if it doesn’t have a theater room? Between the two of them, they’ve got plenty of projects to watch and plenty they’ll more than likely want to show to their friends and family. Good thing this room looks cozy enough to all of that!
Bar and Lounge

Their vintage bar gives speakeasy vibes and honestly with the type of busy schedules they’re used to, they’re probably gonna need a space of their own to have a little grown-up escape!
Backyard Patio

The backyard patio or “exterior courtyard” is about get renovated to make room for special events and parties, per the couple. But we won’t lie, it’s already nice as it is! However, we love when people make spaces their own so we can’t wait to see the finished product.
