โ€œTheyโ€™re using my girlโ€™s character, her style, her look, and sheโ€™s not getting anything for it,โ€ Shumpert stated in an interview with sports reporter Chris Hayes. โ€œThey didnโ€™t even change her name. They could have at least let my girl audition for the part instead of stealing her character completely.โ€

But Shumpert is now saying he was misquoted.

โ€œFans of the show and friends have told us on many occasions that couple favors us, but we do not all feel that our lives are being copied/stolen,โ€ he told TMZ Sports.

The Cavaliers guard even offered an apology to the Empire stars he now says he didnโ€™t compare himself to. โ€œI apologize to the actors on the show because theyโ€™re just being professionals and donโ€™t deserve slander. Thatโ€™s not what I was trying to portray, and I have to be more careful with my choice of words.โ€

Then the finger-pointing began. Shumpert said that Hayes is the one at fault because he took a few quotes and twisted them.

โ€œI do not appreciate the writer using his questions with my answers to draw quotesย likeย I was making these elaborate answers, but thatโ€™s the media. The writer took a two- to three-[minute] convo of locker-room talk after a great team win and made it look like a sit-down interview, and it wasnโ€™t,โ€ said Shumpert.

โ€œHe twisted words to get the point that he wanted to get across. This is not that serious, and though we donโ€™t watch the show, we are not against it,โ€ he continued.

While Shumpert and Taylor are not watching the show, millions of other people are. He doesnโ€™t know what heโ€™s missing.
