The actor and everyone’s most beloved ex-boyfriend was spotted riding a horse in North Philly this week as production for his new film, Concrete Cowboys, kicks into gear. The film, which costars Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin, is inspired by a real-life black urban horsemanship community in the City of Brotherly Love.

A CBS local affiliate shared the photo of the actor and DJ, sat atop a brown steed in all-denim, a cowboy hat, and a red bandana: the blessed summer image we didn’t know we needed (I hope you’re well, Idris darling).

As Deadline reports, Concrete Cowboys is based on Fletcher Street Stables in North Philly, an urban horsemanship community that has existed for more than a hundred years in the historically black neighborhood:

Concrete Cowboys follows 15-year-old Cole (McLaughlin) who is taken to live with his estranged father Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia, where he discovers the city’s vibrant urban cowboy subculture, which flourishes despite the surrounding poverty, violence, and encroachment of gentrification.

A yee-haw oasis, if you will.

The film also draws from the novel Ghetto Cowboy by Greg Neri. Elba is slated to produce and star in the project, which is co-produced by Lee Daniels Entertainment. Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us, Moonlight), Lorraine Toussaint (Orange Is the New Black), and Byron Bowers (Honey Boy) have also been tapped for starring roles.
