President Donald Trump is still being dragged for his total demolition of the White House’s East Wing to build his own ballroom. And on the long list of folks opposed is former first lady Michelle Obama, whose criticisms seemed to catch the attention of Trump in the worst way.

Obama is busy following the release of her coffee table book, “The Look.” But it was during a recent taping of her podcast in New York City did Obama, who spent a significant amount of time in the East Wing as first lady, seemed to ruffle Trump’s feathers after speaking out about his renovations, a move she called a bad reflection on American history.
“When we talk about the East Wing, it is the heart of the work,” Obama said, according to Vanity Fair. “And to denigrate it, to tear it down, to pretend like it doesn’t matter — it’s a reflection of how you think of that role.”
The president tore down the entire East Wing for his ballroom project last month, we told you. It’s expected to be completed before the end of Trump’s term and will almost double the current size of the White House. The project costs an estimated $250 to $300 million, which Trump says won’t come from American taxes. Critics have said the ballroom is “tone deaf,” especially considering the latest government shutdown and continuous affordability concerns for Americans.
Of course, the president has heard most of the negative feedback but he doesn’t plan to pause the ballroom construction. On Monday (Nov. 10), Trump spoke to Fox News in response to the former first lady’s concerns. He admitted he didn’t have to knock down such a historic part of the White House. “I could’ve built the ballroom around it,” he said. “I didn’t want to sacrifice a great ballroom for an okay ballroom by leaving it right smack in the middle.”
But wait… there’s more! He wouldn’t be President Trump if he didn’t take Obama’s critiques of him straight to his favorite social media platform, Truth Social. Early Tuesday (Nov. 11), he mocked the Obama family with a series of posts.
He reposted a meme of Obama and former President Barack Obama accusing them of reviving racism in the country. “Racism in America was almost dead because we were united in ridiculing racists and their beliefs,” the caption read. “Then these two showed up and set American back 100 years.”
Trump also suggested the former president should “GO TO PRISON.” Clearly, it’s not just the former first lady that Trump has ongoing beef with. He’s been recently attacking President Obama’s Affordable Care Act– dubbed Obamacare– after the government shut down last month. Democrats wanted Obamacare protections to be extended while Republicans– and Trump– expressed desires to get rid of the law, which provides millions with Americans health insurance.
The Senate approved a deal to end the longest U.S. federal shutdown on Monday. President Trump went on to congratulate Republicans on the big win against Democrats after seven of them and one lone Independent caved in.
