Support Your Favorite Black Brands In The Face of DEI Bans. Here’s A List

President Trump’s war on DEI means Black-owned brands need our support now more than ever

In his first week in office, President Donald Trump has already declared war on all things DEI, signing executive orders that would roll back any of the diversity initiatives companies tried to put in place during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement. While we saw many retailers made efforts to stock their shelves with products from Black-owned brands, these new policies could mean some of your favorite things may be harder to find.

That means these brands need our support now more than ever. Check out some of the alternative ways to shop some of your favorite Black-0wned brands.

BLK & Bold

Friends Pernell Cezar Jr. and Rod Johnson launched BLK & Bold to merge their love of coffee with their dedication to their community. Besides making coffee that tastes good, they’re also committed to doing good by donating five percent of their gross profits to non-profit organizations around the country that are dedicated to serving young people.

You can find all of their coffee, teas and accessories on the company’s website. There is also a search function that will allow you to enter your zip code and find retail locations that sell the products in your area.

Jungalow

No one does boho like artist and designer Justina Blakeney. Her colorful patterns and prints are inspired by nature and help you bring the outside in in a way that is totally chic.

Although her online shop is closed, Blakeney has partnered with other retailers, including Ruggable, Makers Collective and Paperless Post on stunning collections of home decor items and stationary that are sure to brighten up any home.

Partake Foods

Denise Woodard started Partake Foods, a line of packaged snacks with her daughter, who was diagnosed with several food allergies, in mind.

“I wanted something that tasted good, had ingredients I could understand and was from a brand that was cool enough that other people without food allergies would eat it,” she told The Root in a 2023 interview.

Be Rooted

Jasmine Foster founded Be Rooted in 2020 as a place for Black women to see themselves. Her journals, stationary, puzzles and other lifestyle products include vibrant images and positive messages designed to inspire the user to be their best and achieve their goals.

Ghetto Gastro

Born out of a Bronx culinary collective, Ghetto Gastro is a line of pancake and waffle mixes, syrups and toaster pastries that come in a variety of creative flavors, including sweet potato and spicy maple. You can shop all of their products on the company’s website.

Ava’s Pet Palace

Ava’s Pet Palace is a line of pet treats made of simple, natural ingredients to help keep your furry friends feeling their best. Ava came up with the idea for her business at just six years old, and with the help of her parents, has made her dream a reality. You can shop all of the dog and cat treats and adorable pet accessories on the company’s website.

Reel Paper

Made with 100-percent tree-free fibers, Reel is a line of sustainably made bamboo toilet paper and paper towels designed to keep things clean and reduce waste. You can shop their products online or use the store locator to find a retail partner near you.

Goode Foods

Goode Foods is a family-owned brand of canned beans and vegetables made with no added sugar. You can find the retailers that sell their products on the Goode Foods website. While most are in the Chicago area, hopefully they’ll be available in more locations across the country soon.

Mocktail Club

If you want to enjoy happy hour without a hangover, try Mocktail Club, a line of non-alcoholic beverages that look just as festive and fun.

You can shop all of their products online, where you’ll also find recipes for mocktails that are sure to impress your guests. One percent of their sales is donated to support clean water access around the world.

Proudly Company

If you’re looking for an affordable line of skin and hair care products for Black babies, look no further than Proudly. Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union were inspired by their daughter Kaavia to make products made for melanated skin and hair and enlisted the help of a dermatologist of color to develop their line.

You can shop all of their products online and know that your money is going to a good cause, as Proudly donates diapers and other items to organizations working to support families of color in underserved communities.

Bevel

Guys can keep themselves perfectly groomed with Bevel’s line of shaving and skin care products made with Black men in mind. You can shop all of their popular products online on the Bevel website. There are even links to great gift bundles if you want to treat a special guy in your life.
