A Pennsylvania beauty influencer set her house on fire with her and her cats inside in an attempt to take her own life last month. Her suicide attempt, preceded by chilling public suicide notes, was unsuccessful, but it’s what happened after that has her hundreds of thousands of followers even more distraught.

Drew Mehalick-Headley, who goes by Drew Disaster online, posted concerning messages on her social media accounts Aug. 27. On Facebook, the content creator wrote: “I’m sorry if it feels all for naught with how this has ended. It meant so much to me but I have come to accept the reality that my hurt is too much to carry.”
She added, “[N]o matter how much I try to avoid it, it seems I will always be a destructive force” and how she isn’t “deserving of love.” Mehalick-Headley concluded, “Please don’t be sad, as I’m finally free and no longer in pain.”
On her now deleted Instagram, she reportedly apologized for her forthcoming actions, but wrote how, “The pain has just become too heavy to bear. This is all I wanted. I’m glad that I got it. With love, Drew.” An Instagram reel, according to Law & Crime, showed the influencer petting her two cats while saying, “Please cremate me or bury me in the shroud. I love you all, I truly do.”
Those messages caught the attention of her fans, who contacted Middletown Borough police.
According to reports, Mehalick-Headley confessed to setting her home in Middletown, a borough about 100 miles west of Philadelphia, ablaze at around 4:39 a.m. Aug. 27 with her inside. One of her pet cats died in the fire, while she and her second pet cat survived. Her current condition is unknown.
Now, Mehalick-Headley has been charged with arson posing a danger of death or injury, arson posing a danger to inhabited buildings, risking catastrophe, and aggravated cruelty to animals.
“Absolutely heartbreaking situation,” one person wrote on X. One supporter of Drew Disaster said on X, “She needs help not to be criminalized” and how “there needs to be some kind of petition started for her. There’s an uptick of Black people facing mental health crisis and them being criminalized.”
Fox 14 reported she awaits a preliminary hearing for the charges that has not been scheduled as of this writing. She has over 7,000 followers on X and 300,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she shares lifestyle content of her “creepy cute” shopping hauls, hair wash routine, and getting tattoos.
In March 2024, she shared photos of herself on X with the caption: “I’m so lucky to be me!”
