Hip-Hop Has Historically Loved Trump, But Here’s How Rappers Are Responding to His Victory

50 Cent, Cardi B and Chuck D were some of the notable hip-hop figures to react to Tuesday night’s election results.

It’s official, Donald Trump is the President-Elect of the United States. This means everyone from every corner of the country has some thoughts on it, especially those in the hip-hop community that has admired Trump for decades. As such, here are some reactions to Trump’s victory in the hip-hop world.

50 Cent

50 Cent didn’t lean either way until the election, but he took a clear side after Trump’s victory. In the above post on Instagram, he wrote, “I don’t care how the fight goes, I’m leaving with the winner shit. I still don’t know what’s going on. congratulations!

Cardi B was active on social media as everyone patiently waited for the election results. After Trump was declared the winner, she wrote on her IG story, “I hate yall bad.” In a now-deleted video on X, she said, “This why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes. That’s all I’mma say.”

Chuck D

The always politically conscious Chuck D had a lot to say on X as the election was ending. In one post, he wrote, “Don’t Let A Win go to your head or a loss get to your heart. A ‘L’ He Got Game f****n again . The NYC hustler Gamed them again . Well its time for myself to work head forward as a 2nd class citizen. Good luck ill be watching it all with a Pen and a Pad USA .”

In another post, that included a drawing of Trump, he stated, “One thing we do know is that it wont be a goon gathering this coming January. It will be a concession without the bullsht.”

Joe Budden hasn’t reacted to the election results yet (probably saving it for the podcast), but he did share his thoughts as the votes were coming in. In a post on X, he wrote, “If Trump win I’m egging cyber trucks.”

Waka Flocka

Waka Flocka hasn’t switched his tune all year. He’s always been supportive of Trump and reaffirmed his belief in him by simply writing, “Trump!!!!!!!” on X. He also shared a picture of himself with the new president, writing, “GOOD MORNING SQUAD. Based season has commenced.”

Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks is keeping folks on their toes. In 2023, she stated that she would be voting for Trump because he’s “funny.” But earlier this year, she changed her tune and said Kamala Harris would be on her ballot. After the election, she switched up once again, sharing a photo of her ballot on X, writing, “Lmao I lied, I voted for Trump yesterday.”

Lil Pump

Lil Pump is likely the most ecstatic person in rap when it comes to Trump’s election. His X account is filled with posts of support. In one sport he wrote, “He’s the only president who has won, lost and came back in history.” In another, he wrote, “God bless Donald Trump. Gas is gonna be cheaper. Taxes is gonna be lower and life is gonna be great.”

Royce da 5’9″

The veteran Detroit rapper didn’t say much…he simply shared a clip from an episode from “black-ish” in which Anthony Anderson reacts to the 2016 presidential election.
