As a teenager, my mom always told me that everything we wore was just a bootleg version of something her generation wore before. And now, as a mother of a teen myself, I have the pleasure of telling my daughter that the baggy jeans and crop top look she thinks she and her friends invented is so nineties.
The great thing about fashion is that trends are recycled all the time β which means if you wait long enough, those acid wash jeans you once loved might actually be a thing again one day.

We rounded up some style trends weβve certainly seen before to prove that nothing ever really goes out of style for good.
Oversized Blazers

They were big in the 1980s, and now oversized blazers are back β thankfully, without the shoulder pads. Whether you wear it with a pair of jeans and a tee or over a tube dress, this blazer from Generation Love is a versatile closet staple that will have you looking like a boss.
Pea Coat

Pea coats have been around since the 1800s, when American and European sailers wore them to keep warm. Since World War II, theyβve enjoyed mainstream popularity. These days, pea coats come in a variety of styles and colors, making them a great way to stay warm and look cool like this double breasted fleece pea coat from UGG.
Kitten Heels

Thereβs nothing wrong with a high heel every now and then. But if you want a stylish shoe that keeps you closer to the ground, a kitten heel is a perfect choice. The style was introduced in the 1950s for young girls who werenβt ready to rock high heels, and has never really gone away. They made a comeback in the 1990s. Lucky for us, theyβre back again. We love this suede pointed toe kitten heeled bootie from Dolce Vita.
Platform Heels

Whether youβre channelling 70s disco glam or 90s Spice Girls chic, platforms give you all the fabulous height of a heel with way more stability. Try a sneaker, a loafer or this denim-inspired platform sandal from Sam Edelman.
Mary Janes
Channel your inner kindergartener with a pair of Mary Janes. The classic shoe style has been popular off and on since the 60s. Great with jeans or a dress, this metallic Mary Jane flat from Cole Haan is super chic.
Bubble Skirt
Bubble skirts were everywhere in 1980s. Even Princess Diana rocked this voluminous hemline. Now theyβre making a comeback, like this elastic waist bubble skirt from Ameera β an updated interpretation of the trend.
Florals
Love βem or hate βem, floral prints are here to stay. And trust us, youβre going to see even more of them this spring. But you donβt have to look like youβre going to meet the Easter bunny. If youβre looking for an updated version of the classic pattern, try this bamboo cotton jersey turtleneck from The Kit.
Slip Dresses

Slip dresses were everything in the 90s. And now, theyβre back with a vengeance. This slip dress from Aqua is perfect for a night out. The sheer lace bodice is subtle detail that is super sexy.
Bucket Hats

In the early 1900s, fisherman wore bucket hats to protect their heads from the weather. But rappers like Run-D.M.C. and LL Cool J made them cool in the 80s and 90s. And now theyβre making a comeback in a variety of patterns and colors. We canβt get enough of this super soft faux leather bucket hat from Telfar.
Long Denim Skirts

You may have missed them in the 1990s, but long denim skirts are back again. Try pairing this denim maxi skirt from Zara with knee-high boots for a look you can wear practically everywhere.
Memberβs Only Jackets
While lots of things about the 80s are better left in the past, weβre glad Memberβs Only jackets are still with us. If youβre looking for a layering piece that never goes out of style, try the Classic Iconic Racer Jacket which comes in over 15 colors.
Pleated Mini Skirt

Mini skirts raised eyebrows when they first came on to the scene in the 60s and 70s. But by the time they came back around in the 2000s, people barely blinked an eye at a skirt with a short hemline. Now, you can rock the trend in a new way with this vegan leather pleated mini from French Connection.
Flannel

Flannel shirts have found their way back from the 90s. But if you donβt want to go full-on grunge, you can try this flannel over shirt from Everlane.
