As Berry is currently engaged in a bitter custody battle with ex husband Olivier Martinez over their son Maceo, 1o and another ex-husband is speaking out about their relationship, we look back at her various romances, up to and including her current love and long-term boyfriend, Van Hunt.

Around the beginning of Berry’s career, she dated Wesley Snipes. While Snipes was already an established star in his own right, Berry was just breaking through in the industry, filming “Strictly Business” and Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever” alongside Snipes.

While Snipes and Berry have not opened up much publicly about their relationship, rumors and allegations regarding their romance have circulated for quite some time. Another one of Berry’s 1990’s beaus, Christopher Williams, accused Snipes of “busting” Berry’s eardrum — an incident that Berry has spoken about publicly but has never named the alleged abuser.

Loyal Berry fans may remember that New Jack City’s Christopher Williams and Berry were also linked in the early ‘90s. While the duo were not together for long, their relationship certainly made a splash. It seems the two are also on good terms, as he recently shared in an interview, “Me and Halle are really great friends to this day.”

Berry met her first husband, David Justice, in 1992, after seeing him play in a charity baseball game on MTV. The two got married in 1993, and spent three years together before eventually splitting in 1996.

The divorce was a messy one, with Berry even filing a restraining order against Justice, citing fear for her “personal safety and well-being,” as PEOPLE Magazine reported. Justice publicly denied the incident at the time, saying he posed, “no threat to Halle.”

Berry met her second husband, Eric Benét, in the late 90s, telling Vogue Magazine at the time that he was, “a very kind, sensitive, gentle soul.” The two were wed in 2001, but their marriage ended by 2003, just two years later.

While infidelity rumors circulated about their relationship as Benét entered a 35-day-sex addict rehab program, he publicly denied cheating on her, telling PEOPLE Magazine in 2005, “I was very much in love with my wife. But I personally could only contribute 50 percent. Ultimately what was the end of us was she just couldn’t trust me anymore.”

Berry’s next relationship was a longer one. The actress was with model Gabriel Aubry for five years. Berry welcomed their daughter, Nahla, in 2008.

By 2010, however, the two split, and what followed was a tough and very public custody battle that took years to settle. As The Root reported at the time, Berry was pushing back against the amount of child support she was paying to Audry for years after their split.

Berry’s next love and third husband is Oliver Martinez, a French actor she met while shooting the movie “Dark Tide.” Another relatively swift romance, the two went public with their relationship in 2011, were engaged in 2012 and married by 2013.

The two welcomed a son together, Maceo, in 2013, but divorced in 2015 after two years of marriage. What followed was yet another lengthy custody battle and divorce, which was only just settled in August 2023. The two remain engaged in a legal battle over their 10-year-old son, Maceo.

Now it seems Berry might’ve truly found her happily ever after with Van Hunt. The two met in 2020, and as The Root previously reported, Berry has gushed about their traditional courtship. She told AARP Magazine in 2022, “We were forced to let only our brains connect and discover if we had a connection before our bodies decided to get involved. I’d never done it this way. I fell in love with his mind, his conversation.”

The two went official with their relationship in 2020, and have been together ever since, sharing sweet selfies and testimonials online. She told Extra in 2021 when discussing her new love, “When you’re loved and supported as a woman, everything changes. The day looks brighter, everything looks better.
