These days, conversations about the future of the Democratic Party often include mention of California Gov. Gavin Newsom as a top contender in the 2028 Presidential election. One of the few Dems who has no problem going low with President Donald Trump, making him and his administration the target of some serious trolling.

As fun as he may be to follow on X, one major Hollywood star is not convinced that Newsom is the answer, and she’s calling him out for his failure to support legislation around women’s health.
Speaking to an audience at The New York Times DealBook Summit on Dec. 3, Berry blasted the Democratic governor for vetoing the Menopause Care Equity Act. The legislation, which passed the state legislature with support from both sides of the aisle, would protect women’s insurance coverage for menopause-related treatments and call for doctors to continue to educate themselves on the topic.
Berry said Newsom’s failure to support a huge Democratic voting bloc could cost him at the ballot box.
“But that’s okay, because he’s not going to be governor forever, and the way he has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us, he probably should not be our next president either,” she said.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who launched her company Respin Health to support women’s health during perimenopause and menopause, has been an outspoken advocate for women’s health in midlife. When speaking to her DealBook Summit audience, Berry emphasized that support for women dealing with the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause helps their entire household, but she threw in a dig at legislators, adding that the issue would be a much bigger priority if it impacted men directly.
“[If men] had a medical condition that disrupted their sleep, brain function and sex life, we’d be calling that a health crisis on par with COVID, and the whole world would shut down,” she said.
Berry ended her speech with a mic drop moment that let her audience know she meant every word she said.
“At this stage of my life, I have zero f****s left to give,” she said.
