In a devastating yet somewhat predictable turn of events, Floridaβs State Board of Education shared Wednesday that there will be βstrict regulationsβ to restrict public funds being used for anything related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in 28 state college campuses.
Additionally, the rule forbids Florida College System institutions from using state or federal money to operate programs that βcategorize individuals based on race or sex for the purpose of differential or preferential treatment.β

Gov.Β Ron DeSantis has had a ruthless vendetta against diversity efforts since he took office β this is just the latest development in his plan. But the horrific news doesnβt stop there: The State Board of Education said it also replaced the course βPrinciples of Sociologyβ with an American History course.
βThe aim is to provide students with an accurate and factual account of the nationβs past, rather than exposing them to radical woke ideologies, which had become commonplace in the now replaced course,β the board said in a statement.
Last year, DeSantis signed a bill into law last year that got rid of state or federal spending on DEI programs at publicly-funded colleges in Florida. The stateβs Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz Jr. rattled off lies about the dangers of DEI yesterday when the real fear around white supremacist systems being examined and called out for exactly what they are.
βHigher education must return to its essential foundations of academic integrity and the pursuit of knowledge instead of being corrupted by destructive ideologies,β Diaz said. βThese actions today ensure that we will not spend taxpayersβ money supporting DEI and radical indoctrination that promotes division in our society.β
