You may not believe it, based on some of the jaw-dropping looks that have appeared on red carpets past β weβre looking at you, J Loβs low-cut green Versace dress from 2000. But in a recent interview with PEOPLE, Raj Kapoor, the executive producer of the 2025 show, described the Grammys dress code as βartistic black-tie,β but added, βIn the music industry, I guess thatβs up for interpretation.β
Kapoor went on to confirm that artists performing on stage have to comply with network standards, which βprohibits obscene, indecent and profane content from being broadcast on the radio or TV,β according to language on the FCC website. But he adds that attendees and nominees have to answer to the Recording Academy, the organization that presents the Grammys for their wardrobe choices.
