Speaking in a new interview for Power 106 Los Angeles on Wednesday, the “Goodies” singer was there to discuss her and Wilson’s most recent philanthropic endeavor. Specifically, she discussed their non-profit Why Not You and the opportunities it’s afforded young children all over the nation.
She then discussed how her hubby got involved with a sick child and nearly saved his lives thanks to his advice.
“We’re so blessed that we get to do life together and we get to impact together and that’s one thing we love doing,” Ciara said. “We love being able to provide opportunities for kids to live their dreams.”
Ciara described a young child who was diagnosed with cancer but wasn’t sure which treatment option he wanted to undergo. That’s when she said Wilson stepped in and eventually convinced the child to try stem cell therapy to help aid in his journey.
“This kid did not want to try it. He had twelve hours left to live,” the singer said. “Russ went in and talked to him and convinced him, ‘Hey, kid,’ told him his story about losing his father, everything. Before you know it, the kid changed his mind, got up and was like, ‘I want to do it.’”
Ciara went on to say that, thanks to Wilson’s encouragement, the child told other young cancer patients who were on the fence about the treatment to consider doing it for their own health.
“So you think about the power in that, it’s such a blessing,” she said.
From legally adopting Ciara’s son Future Jr. and now helping to save a kid’s life, it really seems like Wilson has got his head on straight and is determined to good for all of those around him.
