The website, one of the continent’s leading sources of news and information, will debut the 30-minute film on Oct. 8. Teresa Clarke, the CEO of Africa.com as well as the film’s writer and executive producer, hopes Africa Straight Up will change the way the world sees the region.

“We set out to produce a film that elevates the conversation about Africa, above the stereotypes of the past and towards the challenges of today and the immense possibilities of tomorrow,” she said.

The documentary features words from global leaders such as Nigerian Finance Minister and former World Bank Director Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; business mogul and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote; and Kenyan technology activist and Policy Manager for Google Africa Ory Okolloh. There will also be contributions from powerhouse networks BET, MTV and Sony Music.
