CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King dropped by βThe Pivotβ this week, where she opened up to hosts, former NFL stars Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder Jr. and Fred Taylor about, among other things, some of the trouble sheβs had living the single life.
King, who called herself a βhopeless romantic,β said dating at this stage in her life is difficult because some men are intimidated by her success. Guys, she says, are hesitant to step to her because they feel they canβt compete with someone who can buy nice things for herself. But for her part, King says sheβs not trying to compete with her man.

βMy thing is, itβs not a matter of competing. Iβm not looking for somebody to compete,β she said. βYou want somebody who has a sense of humor, whoβs very secure, whoβs not intimidated by whatever all of this is and just sees you for you.β
The television personality went on to share that because she prefers Black guys, sheβs swimming in an even smaller dating pool, but adds that sheβs a sucker for the way they cuss.
βI love how they say, βHey, Baby.β And how the word βmotherfu@*erβ can either be a term of endearment or mean theyβre really pissed off,β she said. βYou donβt want somebody with a potty mouth. But sometimes, a well-delivered curse word is very intelligent to me.β
King says a sense of humor, kindness, intelligence and proper grammar are the qualities sheβs looking for when choosing a partner. It also helps if you can adapt to different social situations.
βI like to see how they interact with other people, somebody you can take to the White House and the backyard barbecue,β she said.Β
