From Fly Apartments to Coastal Villas, Here’s What You Can Get in Ghana’s Housing Market

If you’re considering a move to Ghana, we’re looking at just how much home you can get for your money.

But before you make the move, award-winning content creator and journalist Ivy Prosper advises considering a few key factors:

Do Your Research

Even the most impulsive person may have regrets if they relocate to Ghana without doing their homework. Prosper suggests knowing why you want to live in Ghana and what you plan to do when you get there, rather than chasing the excitement you may see on social media.

“The reality is, yes, Ghanaians love to have a good time, love to have fun, but people are working, people are running businesses,” she said.

Make a Financial Plan

One of the worst things you can do is make an international move without having your coins in order. Prosper says people thinking about relocating to Ghana should know that landlords can ask for at least one year’s rent payments up front, which could be tricky for someone without substantial savings.

Understand the Immigration Requirements

If you plan to make Ghana your full-time home, you should make sure you educate yourself on the country’s immigration requirements. According to the Associated Press, the 2000 Citizenship Act states that only people who are residents of Ghana and who have informed the Office of Diaspora Affairs that they are interested in citizenship are eligible to be considered by Ghana’s president.

If you’ve done all of that and you still want to make the move, we’ve rounded up a sample of some beautiful Ghanaian homes that will give you a taste of just what you can get for your money.
