We previously told you the Macrons hit Owens with a 22-count defamation lawsuit in July after the podcaster repeatedly claimed the First Lady is transgender. Before the suit, they warned Owens to end her attacks on Brigitte’s gender.

The couple has since hired private investigators, asked President Donald Trump to intervene and now, they’ve submitted “expert testimony that will come out that will be scientific in nature,” according to the Macrons’ lawyer.

“It is incredibly upsetting to think that you have to go and subject yourself, to put this type of proof forward,” attorney, Tom Clare, told the BBC’s “Fame Under Fire” podcast, according to the Guardian. He said because of the alleged distress caused by Owens, the Macrons are reportedly ready to demonstrate “both generically and specifically” that Owens’ allegations are false.

The legal battle between Owens and the Macrons is more than just personal, according to the French president. He’s vowed to fight the allegations against his wife until the very end. “It is a matter of upholding the truth. It’s about defending my honor. Because this is nonsense,” Macron told Paris Match.

“It has reached such a scale in the United States that we had no choice but to respond,” Macron said of the conspiracy. “It is a matter of upholding the truth. We are talking about the civil status of the first lady of France, a wife, a mother, a grandmother.”

That’s why the couple hired private investigators to document Owens’ ties to the far-right in France, Russia and the U.S., the Financial Times reported. “The Macrons have brought this lawsuit with the full knowledge of who Owens is aligned with,” said Dan Nardello, the executive chair of Nardello & Co, a PI company. The plan is to use these findings coupled with the expected scientific evidence to completely discredit the American.

The family also wanted to understand why Owens had baselessly targeted the first lady. According to the investigator’s findings, this conspiracy theory was started by a Spanish blogger in 2017. Next, the rumor spread to France and was championed by Xavier Poussard, the author of “Becoming Brigitte.” It was Poussard who then translated his debunked findings to English and shared them with Owens.
