A former police officer in Austin, Texas, has been charged with capital murder and was extradited from Indonesia, the Associated Press reports, according to an unsealed federal affidavit.

VonTrey Jamal Clark arrived at an Austin airport Wednesday night and was booked into the Bastrop County Jail on capital-murder charges for the shooting death of his girlfriend Samantha Dean, who was seven months pregnant at the time.

According to the report, Dean’s body was found in February behind an empty shopping center. AP notes that a Bastrop County judge swore out a state arrest warrant in late July charging Clark with capital murder. A federal warrant for unlawful flight followed a few days later.

The 32-year-old alleged killer was arrested July 30 in Indonesia based on a notice from Interpol, AP reports, after flying into the country July 19. Clark had allegedly moved continually, avoiding arrest, before being captured in Kuta in Bali. He still managed to escape before successfully being arrested in  nearby Canggu.

Dean, 29, who was seven months pregnant at the time of her death, coordinated victims services for the Kyle Police Department in Texas.
