The famed show is a reality competition series that challenges aspiring fashion designers to create original looks under tight deadlines. Each week, their designs are judged by Heidi Klum, Christian Siriano, Nina Garcia, and Law Roach, with each designer competing for a cash prize. For this episode, supermodel and former “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks joined the panel.
In the viral clip, competing designer Belania presented her piece to the judges during their popular critique segment. While Garcia and Roach offered their feedback, Belania pushed back.
“That’s not helping you babe,” Roach said.
“Really, you don’t think this is you?” Garcia asked, joining the conversation.
Belania responded, “I’m uncomfortable. I love it, but to me, this is… well, big.”
“Well, you’re going to have to be uncomfortable a lot in this business,” Garcia interjected. “That’s the name of the game. Fashion is all about the new.
As Belania continued to share her stance, Law Roach kicked the segment up a notch.
“Belania, be quiet. I have never yelled at a girl like this before,” Roach screamed, while the camera cuts over to Banks. “I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you.” The panel erupted into laughter knowing it was a slight to Tyra’s infamous tantrum.
Fans of “America’s Next Top Model” may recall the original viral scene when Banks scolded Tiffany Richardson, a competing model whose behavior did not sit well with her or the judges. Roach’s re-enactment was a nostalgic moment that gave everyone some comedic relief, even for Banks.
Social media could not hold it together, and comments came pouring in. “Law was grasping for a chance to use that line in front of Tyra,” a TikTok user wrote.
Another TikTok user added: “She ws not happy about it but had to roll with it. I gagged.”
The conversation spilled over to Threads, where one user posted: “Baby, I KNOW Tyra Banks and Law Roach were fighting nonstop off camera on this week’s episode of ‘Project Runway.’ I would love to see that behind the scenes footage.”
