On Tuesday, Fani Willis β the most prominent figure in the Georgia election subversion criminal case against Donald Trump β was victorious in the stateβs Democratic primary as she sets her sights on another four-year term as prosecutor.
Willis defeated progressive attorney Christian Wise Smith in the primary election. Now, she will run against Republican Courtney Kramer in the fall. After her anticipated win, the district attorney had a few choice words for reporters.

According to The Washington Post, Willis said that the election results sent a message that βpeople want a DA that is just, that treats everybody equally and that works hard, and they know that they have that in me.β Willis also called Kramer βunqualifiedβ to run against her due to Kramerβs lack of ever trying a criminal case.
Willis also noted that Republicans have given a significant amount in donations to Kramerβs campaign. βDonβt get confused. She is a real threat because of who backs her and how they back her,β Willis explained. βShe does not have allegiance to the people of my county. She has allegiance to politics and the powerful interests.β
This victory feels especially satisfying as Willis was forced to reveal the most intimate parts of her relationship with ex-special prosecutor Nathan Wade in a courtroom earlier this year. Her integrity was questioned in the Trump subversion case because of it.
In addition, she was also demonized by conservatives for defending herself on the stand. During her testimony, Willis raised objections, made legal arguments, had exchanges with the judge and reminded the courtroom she is the one not on trial. Folks of all backgrounds and ethnicities were split on how Willis handled herself.
Quotes like βItβs ridiculous you lied on me on Monday, yet here we still areβ as well as βYouβre confusedβ¦you think Iβm on trial...Iβm not on trial, no matter how hard you try to put me on trialβ led some folks to call Willis βcombative,β βrudeβ and βunprofessional.β
The right couldnβt wait to label Willis an βaffirmative action hire,β βghetto,β βstreet,β and βhood.β Of course, they just couldnβt wait to tear down a highly skilled and eloquent Black woman who was attempting to hold Trump accountable for his actions.
Yet, none of that has stopped Willis from moving forward in her career and in the case against Trump. This latest victory proves that Black women are, in fact, unstoppable.
