Ashawnty, a fifth-grader at Sunrise Elementary School in Aurora, Colo., got into a fight away from school grounds, and it was uploaded to the app Music.ly. Ashawnty’s mother, Latoshia Harris, said that her daughter was confronting the bully when the fight occurred, and it became fodder on the app.

“My daughter came home two weeks later and hanged herself in the closet,” Harris said.

The family is now using GoFundMe to help with Ashawnty’s burial expenses. A funeral date has not been set yet.
