At the time that Rivas’ body was discovered, the New York-born singer was renting out a house in Los Angeles. Neighbors reportedly spotted his Tesla parked in the neighborhood before the discovery. But days after police searched the rental, D4vd was spotted moving out, we previously reported. Now, the home is back making headlines after the owner has gotten involved.
TMZ reported Mladen Trifunovic, the home owner, officially hired a private investigator to find out what exactly happened inside of his house.
“Our private investigator’s work is still ongoing, and I don’t have any findings to share at this time,” Trifunovic told the outlet. “It’s still early in the process, and I want to respect both the LAPD’s investigation and the memory of the victim.”
It’s been six weeks since Rivas’ body was found. We previously told you she ran away from her Lake Elsinore, California, when she was only 13 years old. She was last heard from at the end of May 2024. Her mother reported the teen had a boyfriend named David, but it is unclear if D4vd is the same person Rivas referred to or if her mother ever met him, according to TMZ.
What we do know, however, is that D4vd and the victim had matching tattoos on their fingers. The words “Shhh…” were discovered on Rivas’ body in red ink. The same tattoo has been spotted on D4vd in Black ink, we also told you.
Resurfaced songs, photos and videos also link the 20-year-old to a girl name Celeste—who shares the same name as Rivas. LAPD said D4vd has been cooperative with their investigation, and they have yet to determine Rivas’ cause of death.
Even though D4vd hasn’t been named a suspect, the singer has faced scrutiny since the tragic discovery. He’s lost partnerships and receiving threats. This led him to hire Blair Berk, a criminal defense attorney, who famously represented Harvey Weinstein– the film producer convicted of rape and sentenced to prison, the Guardian reported.
D4vd also faced backlash after he transferred two property deeds to his mother back last month. We told you one of the days he made the changes coincided with the police search of his rental home. He has not publicly spoken out after Rivas’ discovery.
She was remembered by family as a “beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend,” according to a GoFundMe fundraiser. The campaign has raised almost $25,000 of a $28,000 goal.
