From old classics to fresher faves, we’ve got your Thanksgiving 2025 watchlist ready to go!

But if you’re anything like us, you won’t feel like endlessly scrolling to find the best thing to watch. That’s why we’ve gathered a handful of family-friendly movies that are sure to please anybody! From old favorites to some fresher hits, keep reading to see what films you can queue up this holiday season!

“The Wiz”

There’s just something about “The Wiz” that just gives “Thanksgiving.” We can’t explain it but we know it’ll make for an enjoyable time with the fam!

“The Karate Kid” (2010)

Jaden Smith really did what he needed to do in “The Karate Kid” remake! Kids and adults can draw some inspiration from this movie.

“Crooklyn”

Spike Lee said out of his own mouth that “Crooklyn” is his favorite film of his. And it’s honestly easy to see why with this star-studded and fun-loving family dynamic.

“Sister Act”

We didn’t know we needed to see Whoopi Goldberg take on the role of a fake nun, singing all over these people’s convent. But we’re so happy she did it because this film is a classic!

“Sister Act II: Back in the Habit”

What’s better than watching Sister Mary Clarence once? Seeing her twice! But this time around, Lauryn Hill and a whole host of uber-talented school kids help make this film somehow even better than the first one.

“Holiday Rush”

Romany Malco is a dad determined to make Christmas the best he can for his kids, despite his own downward professional spiral. Watching his quest is sure to be good time!

“Annie”

Forget the redhead (no shade), but Quvenzhané Wallis and Jamie Foxx came to put a fresh spin on this old classic. And they honestly did what they needed to do!

“Sing”

Now y’all already know we had to throw a few animated options on here. While there are only a few characters voiced by Black actors in “Sing,” this movie is just hella enjoyable for Black folks. So this should definitely be an option.

“Shark Tale”

Sometimes it feels like people forgot about “Shark Tale” and that’s really a shame because it was highly entertaining for an animated film. Who knew Will Smith could be just as funny as a cartoon fish as he is in real life?

“Jumping the Broom”

Now the teens among you and the young adults may find “Jumping the Broom” a bit more their speed, but regardless, there’s something funny in here for a lot people.

“One of Them Days”

Yet another one for the 20-somethings in the family whom we’re sure can relate to the struggle of trying to foot the bills. Hopefully, they won’t ever run into a day like that in “One of Them Days.”

“Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé”

Let’s be for real: who doesn’t love Beyoncé? Yeah exactly.

“Very Merry Beauty Salon”

If you’re anything like us, then you already know some Christmas movies tend to always be watched on Thanksgiving and this one starring old “Sister, Sister” lovers Tia Mowry and RonReaco Lee is as sweet as it is nostalgic.

“Merry Liddle Christmas”

Once again keeping with the “almost Christmas” theme, we had to throw in the Kelly Rowland led film franchise “Merry Liddle Christmas.” Trust us, if you haven’t seen this one already–you’ll be hooked and invested into this beautifully disfuntional family within 20 minutes.

“Jingle Jangle”

Yet another on the Christmas tip, there’s so much cuteness in “Jingle Jangle,” you’d be missing out if you didn’t have it in rotation.

Honorable Mention: “Wonka”

Okay sure…there are only a few Black people in “Wonka.” But hear us out: Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory is another one of those movies that just hit different around this time of the year. And this newer version is actually pretty decent. Just trust us and press play, you won’t be mad!
