In the book, she detailed that back in 2001, she was determined to meet a certain highly influential producer backstage at the Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. She was pushing so hard for the meet because she was currently dealing with frustrations stemming from her contract with Interscope Records and the Dr. Dre created label Aftermath Entertainment — to which Eve was signed.

While she had already put out two albums, Dre was allegedly creating a “hostile work environment,” making things difficult for her. So as a sort of petty remedy, she made it a point to introduce herself to a competing producer.

“I knew what I had to do,” she said of that moment.

Well, that producer just so happened to be the one and only Suge Knight, who was Dre’s former Death Row Records boss turned rival. Since Eve was one of the cohosts for the event, she asked security guards to bring Knight to her and she took over the rest.

She later added: “I was still in my little mood about Dre even though we made a solid hit together, so having Suge, his former boss at Death Row, stomping around Interscope felt like some sweet revenge. I am not really sure how I concocted this idea yet here we were.”

What followed next was a dinner between Eve and Knight where he at-first offered to give her advice wirth navigating her rocky relationship with Dre and Interscope. Eventually, their working relationship turned into a surprising yet short-lived romance.

“Red plants, red furs…he’s a Blood. Maybe my red hair was a green flag for him too,” she said of their personal relationship.

However, just as swiftly as things began, they would come to an end after Eve was informed by her mentors that they didn’t approve of her newfound relationship.

“They didn’t like the idea of me hanging out with Suge at all,” she said. “When my guys said it was time to cut the cord, I didn’t think twice.”

Wow! It’s crazy to think what Eve’s life would’ve looked like had she still been entangled with Knight and never met her multi-millionaire husband Maximillion Cooper who’s been seemingly helping her live her very best soft life!
