The Grammy Award winner will end her 50-year career with her final studio album, The Dreamer, on Oct. 25. After that, she says, she’ll focus on her health.

James has been in and out of the hospital in recent months undergoing treatment for leukemia and has suffered from a potentially deadly sepsis problem, in addition to having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009. But the fact that she’s been out of the spotlight for a number of years doesn’t mean fans will miss her any less. To them, she said in a statement, “I wish to thank all my fans who have shown me love and support over all these years. I love you all.”

Here, James performs her hit song “At Last.”
