More than 50 years after her divorce from Elvis Presley, Priscilla Presley just released a new book about what led to the end of their marriage and how she worked to reinvent herself after she called it quits with the celebrated singer and actor. Presley is spilling a whole lot of tea in “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” But one of the topics she covered that has the internet buzzing deals with her only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and her marriage to pop superstar Michael Jackson. The two tied the knot in 1994 but divorced just two years later in 1996.

In her memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” Lisa Marie, who passed away in 2023, wrote that she and Michael Jackson were deeply in love and that Jackson wanted her to be the mother of his children.
Now, her mom is calling BS. According to an excerpt of “Softly, As I Leave You” published by The Sun, Priscilla writes that she was “appalled” by Lisa Marie’s marriage to Jackson, adding that she believed the “Beat It” singer was more interested in an attachment to the Presley name than a serious relationship with her daughter.
“I knew in my bones that Michael wasn’t marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty,” Priscilla writes. “Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it.”
Mama Presley goes on to write that she questioned her daughter about whether or not she had a physical relationship with Jackson, whose sexuality has been the subject of tabloid chatter for years.
“Like so many people, I wasn’t sure. She said ‘yeah,’” Presley writes.
But as excerpts from the book are circulating across the internet, some are calling out Priscilla Presley for her accusation of the late King of Pop, defending Michael Jackson as a star in his own right.
“Priscilla does realize that Michael Jackson has sold more records than Elvis and still the highest paid dead celebrity. lol,” wrote someone on X.
Others argue that Priscilla is the one clinging to the Presley legacy, using this story to sell books.
“I’m appalled that she divorced Elvis, but still clings to his legacy. I’m more appalled that she bashes her own daughter publicly. Shut up, Priscilla,” wrote someone else on X.
