“I didn’t start saying that I was going to be famous until I was about 13,” the comedian recalled. “That’s when I started saying ‘I’m going to be famous, I’m going to be famous, I’m going to be famous.’” Speaking with Speedy Norman, Murphy revealed how his then-girlfriend, Sherry Bell, who happened to be clairvoyant, predicted his rise to stardom long before it happened.

“She was my girlfriend when I was 13, 14 and she told me that I was going to be famous.” Already confident in his future, Murphy said her prediction gave him even more assurance that his dream would come true.

Murphy went on to share that Bell was later diagnosed with an undisclosed neurological condition that left her bedridden. “She was bedridden for all of her twenties, and I took care of her, and she passed away when I was doing ‘The Nutty Professor,’” Murphy explained. “I took care of her all the way from high school, all the way up to those years.”

He explained how an eerie situation occurred when he was filming the blockbuster film.

“We’re on the set of ‘The Nutty Professor,’ and we were shooting one big scene at the end, and all the lights go out and the whole set is all black,” Murphy explained. “We go back to the trailer and on the way to the trailer, somebody came and told me. ‘Hey, Sherry Bell passed away.’ It was lights out.”

Fans were blown away by the shocking story, quickly flooding social media with reactions about this eerie confirmation of fate. One TikTok user wrote, “Eddie doesn’t open up often enough, but when he does, it’s always profound.” The conversation spilled over to X, where one user shared, “As someone with spinal leaks and some mild neurological issues, I can tell you the strongest clairvoyance people have these issues.

An Instagram user praised Murphy for his compassion in caring for his then-girlfriend. “The fact that he took care of her is bigger than him being a celebrity. That’s a teachable moment for the collective.”
