Social Media Split After Bishop T.D. Jakes Retires from The Potter’s House

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones recently announced plans to donate $20,000 to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo.

According to the Bleacher Report, Jones is expected to tour the museum Saturday before the Orioles play the Kansas City Royals.

Jones has been in the news of late since speaking out about repeated racist taunts he received when his team played the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Jones says that he was called the n-word more than a few times and had peanuts hurled at him. A fan was banned from the park for life for using the word.

The Negro Leagues were formed in the 1880s because African Americans were barred from participating in organized, professional baseball. They lasted until the 1950s but lost support after Jackie Robinson broke the color line in baseball in 1945.

The museum, founded in 1990, is “dedicated to preserving the rich history of African Americans in baseball.”

Jones will also reportedly provide free admission to the museum for local children.
