After Dacara Thompson told her dad she was leaving to get gas for her car, her vehicle was found parked in front of a fire hydrant, with her belongings inside.

Dacara Thompson had told her father she was leaving out to get gas for her car and that she would return home soon after. That was the last time anyone has heard from her, and that was 11 days ago.

Thompson, 19, left her dad’s Lanham home in Prince George County on the night of Aug. 22. When she didn’t come back home, her father went looking for her. That’s when he discovered her 2013 white Ford Edge parked in front of a fire hydrant, pointed in the wrong direction, across from the Chillum-Aldephi Volunteer Fire Station in Hyattsville six miles away.

The teenager’s mother told News4 how it appeared Thompson exited her vehicle to return quickly as her purse, credit cards, house keys and cash were still inside. Her phone and key fob, howver, were missing. Police said her cellphone was disabled and Thompson’s family said it’s extremely uncharacteristic of her to not communicate with them.

Grainy surveillance footage of a person could be Thompson, who is 5’2″ tall, weighs 105 pounds and has long, brown hair and brown eyes, walking in that neighborhood about 1:30 a.m. Aug. 23, but the investigation is still underway. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.

Thompson’s mother, Carmen Thompson, said she’s “so broken” about her missing daughter. “Nobody should have to experience what I’m feeling right now as a parent. It’s an indescribable feeling,” she added. “I just want my daughter back safe.”

Carmen, who said she wasn’t sure why her daughter would be in the Hyattsville-area, still shared a message for her.

“A message to my baby girl: We love you, we love you so much. If you see this, do whatever you have to, do whatever you have to, to get out of your situation, and you get somewhere and you let somebody know you need help,” she said. Carmen added: “Whatever you need to do. Mom and dad is here. Your family, your community, everybody is standing behind you, and we are waiting to have you back in our arms.”

The parents of Dacara Thompson took the search for their daughter to a new location Monday, about a half a mile from where her car was found. The 19-year-old has been missing for 10 days, and her parents decided to search a wooded area near the old Adelphi Mill on Riggs Road. #dctiktok #dmvtiktok #dcnews #maryland #virginia #missingteen #missingpeople #dacarathompson #hyattsvillemd #hyattsville #dacarathompson
