Deputies Drag a Mississippi Woman Out Of Church Worship, But Don’t Blame the Authorities

Allie Thompson recalled how cops “wrestled” her to the floor and twisted her right arm.

What she thought would be a normal Father’s Day church service, Allie Johnson of Mississippi was instead met with deputies who forcibly dragged her out mid-worship. Now, folks are in a complete uproar.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Scott County, Mississippi in June. According to reports, Thompson showed up to the church’s Father’s Day service after receiving a court-order letter banning her, and six other parishioners, from taking one step on the church’s campus in October 2024.

Thompson told reporters how she was “wrestled to the floor. One [police officer] got my right arm. Twisted it. I said, ‘No, you’re hurting me!’” However, Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said his deputies did everything they could to encourage Thompson to leave willingly, but she did not. After so-many refusals, they took matters into their own hands… literally, physically removing her from the church.

In a viral video, Thompson can be seen being dragged from the mother’s board section of the church by two deputies. “They violated the court’s order and came to the service anyway,” Sheriff Lee said.

According to Thompson, tensions sparked at Mt. Olive after spats about church leadership, governance, and Pastor Charles Bell’s decision-making came to a head. She told authorities how Pastor Bell “called himself appointing a finance committee,” something the “church did not vote” for, and accused him of purposefully excluding her husband from key decisions. Thompson and others were slammed with a restraining order and preliminary injunction after they allegedly assaulted a deacon and threatened the pastor, his wife, and other members in September. Thompson denied any involvement, saying “all the preachers that have been here and gone… they will tell you that I have been a faithful warrior.”

Thompson wasn’t the only church-goer affected.

Addie Johnson, who served as the church’s Sunday school teacher for decades, recalled how she was told someone else was taking over her lessons, and she “was not informed.”

Folks took to the comments to share their thoughts. “I would not even want to be a member of a church that treats their members that way, what a disgrace,” one person wrote in a YouTube comment. Other comments condemning the house of worship included, “This church needs Jesus!,” “Someone is hiding something, and at the root of it is money,” and “This is absolutely sad and disgusting. I pray she gets justice and recovers.” Another viewer said there’s “Wolf’s in sheep’s clothing not everyone that goes to church has a good heart,” while others agreed with the deputies, stating how “They violated a court order.” One person wrote: “If she would of just cooperated and left they would of NOT even had too resort too that.”

Thompson said Mt. Olive will hold a vote soon to decide whether she and the other banned individuals can remain members of the church.
