Dennis Rodman returned for another interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, only this time he’s expressing earnest sympathy for Kenneth Bae, the American citizen currently being held in North Korea.

“I don’t want anyone to go in any country or anywhere in the world and be hostage for something maybe they did or didn’t do,” he said in the interview. “I feel for [the Bae family].”
That was when he made his surprising statement that he would gladly switch places with the captive if given an opportunity. “This is Dennis Rodman talking. If they said, ‘We’d take Dennis Rodman and we’d let Kenneth Bae go,’ I’d say, ‘You know what? I’d do that. Straight ahead, I’d go, ‘I’d do it,’” the star said, punctuating his statement with the snap of his fingers. “Take me.”
This interview struck a different tone from the one in early January when Cuomo originally asked Rodman about Bae and whether he’d use his unusual friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to try and help free Bae.
“Kenneth Bae did one thing,” Rodman shouted at Cuomo during the interview, implying that Bae was guilty. “If you understand what Kenneth Bae did … Do you understand what he did in this country? No, no, no, you tell me, you tell me. Why is he held captive here in this country, why? … I would love to speak on this.”
Rodman later apologized for the outburst, saying he’d been drinking.
