House Republicans might be able to get away with calling Democrats βwokeβ or calling President Biden βold.β But they just learned a very important lesson β donβt you ever fix your lips to say anything about a Black womanβs lashes.
Since she came to Congress in 2020 Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has earned a reputation as someone who has no problem causing chaos. But the Georgia Republican stooped to a new low when she tried to come for Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) in a May 16 House Oversight Committee meeting that went way off the rails.

The committee was set to discuss a resolution to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to release the audio recording of President Bidenβs interview with special counsel Robert Hur over his handling of classified documents.
Rep. Greene tried to take the conversation on a tangent, bringing up Trumpβs hush money trial in Manhattan, when Crockett asked, βPlease tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland. Do you know what weβre here for?β
Thatβs when Greene fired the first shot responding to Crockettβs question saying, βI think your fake eyelashes are messing up what youβre reading.β
At that moment, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) jumped in, calling out MTG for taking such a low blow.
βThat is absolutely unacceptable,β Ocasio-Cortez said. βHow dare you attack the physical appearance of another person?β
When MTG clapped back, asking βAre your feelings hurt?β AOC had to remind her Republican colleague that sheβs from the Bronx, responding βOh, girl. Baby girl. Donβt even play.β
Chaos broke out when other Dems jumped in trying to get Greene to apologize and have her insult stricken from the record. But when it was ruled that Greeneβs remarks were not a violation of House rules, Crockett asked for a little clarification.
βIβm just curious, just to better understand your ruling,β she said. βIf someone on this committee then starts talking about somebodyβs bleach blond, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?β
But while members of congress tried to get things back on track, social media was here for the fight, taking to X to cheer on Rep. Crockett, posting:
