Stopping by the “Tamron Hall Show” for his first ever television interview, Archer shared that he initially didn’t know that his father was battling pancreatic cancer. Describing how he knew he was ill, he went on to share that that information was purposely being withheld from him at the behest of his dad.

“I knew he was in the hospital but I didn’t really know how bad it was,” Archer told Hall.

He went on to say that while he was unaware of his father’s official diagnosis, he began “putting two and two together” after he FaceTimed his father and saw how he looked. Afterwards, he had a conversation with a couple of his uncles, who went ahead and broke the news to him. As a result, Archer hopped on a plane to New York City to go spend time with him.

“I never really seen my dad with an ailment or whatever, he was always just this figure to me. I seen him like that and seen with my eyes what was going on — I just busted out crying. But when he woke up and he saw me, he was smiling. I just hurried up and wiped that off,” he explained.

The 28-year-old shared that Stone died in the tragic accident the morning after his birthday. He also revealed that in the last few months of her life, she was battling kidney failure and he was acting as her caretaker. That’s when he explained that she had actually gotten approved for a new kidney the day before she died.

Reflecting on the closeness of he and his mom’s relationship, Archer II said: “Me and her talked so much, that was like my best friend. So it was just, after it happened, it’s like it’s a silence. That was the craziest thing about it, everything was so quiet.”

He later added, “She was a warrior. She didn’t tell anybody, didn’t ask for sympathy or anything. In my heart of hearts, I know she didn’t let that kidney beat her. She fought it.”
