Is it possible to cancel someone who’s already been canceled?! That’s the question many online are asking after rapper DaBaby released a shocking music video folks are calling insensitive.

It’s only been a few weeks since 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was stabbed to death while riding a bus in Charlotte, where the rapper is from. Police have since arrested a Black man named Decarlos Brown Jr. for the killing. As the world continues to grieve her death, which was all caught on surveillance video, DaBaby decided it would be a great idea to recreate the scene. Now, he’s catching hell over it.
In the music video, DaBaby sits on a bus wearing a black hoodie next to an actor portraying the accused knifeman. When the actor goes to stab another actress playing Zarutska, DaBaby comes to the rescue and stops the man from committing the crime. In the end, all three of them — DaBaby, and both actors — are seen sitting together in what some may deem as a happy ending. Of course, the reality of the fatal incident still has folks on edge.
“THE F**K IS WRONG WITH YOU N***A READ THE ROOM,” @krugersville tweeted. As we previously reported, the murder of the Ukrainian refugee only happened last month. Her accused killer hasn’t even been to trial yet.
@Not_Mistletoe asked, “You really thought you ate???? BE FCKIN FR.”
“I can’t think of anything worse than getting k*lled this brutally and then having mf DaBaby use me for his trash ass song,” @wowthatshiphop said on X. The Charlotte rapper is even making national headlines because of the music video.
Many folks took issue with DaBaby rapping about things that had nothing to do with the woman’s murder. “My mind is trynna grasp the concept as DaBaby electing himself as the one needing to tribute the slain woman on the train…. Whilst also talmbout sex in the song,” @angie_goodwood pointed out.
@herkqlees wrote, “countless edits, scenes, outfits, locations, etc. so many people laid eyes and hands on this and NOT ONE PERSON thought, “hmmm this is a bad idea!”
Still, some folks gave DaBaby the benefit of the doubt. @blackrainluv said his “heart was in the right place but it was way too soon for this.” DaBaby’s music video was in tribute to Zarutska. Many see it as a heartfelt and touching gesture… others however, are still dragging him for fifth.
“Dababy is actually sick and im actually gonna have to delete this app like n****s really are not well,” @kannnnnette said in disbelief.
@Sosaaaaaaaw asked, “At what moment did he think to himself that this was a good idea?”
DaBaby was originally canceled after he doubled down for his support for Tory Lanez– the Canadian rapper who was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Ever since then, DaBaby hasn’t been on many folks’ radar… until now.
“Dababy bout to get cancelled while already being cancelled,” @SeewhyChels wrote online. Another user, @TheGreatEdBomb, said, “He lost his cotton pickin mind man wtf.”
The rapper has not responded to any of the backlash he’s received so far. On Sep. 15, Brown Jr., the accused murderer, was indicted on murder charges.
