Comedian D.L. Hughley has never shied away from telling it like it is and he’s keeping it real once again in an all-new interview. The subject this time? Sean “Diddy” Combs and the shocking verdict from his federal trial.

As we previously told you, on July 2, Diddy was found not guilty of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He was, however, convicted on the lesser charges of transportation for prostitution. Despite those two aforementioned charges, his shirking of the more severe ones sparked a huge reaction from fans on social media and in real life with many celebrating the fact that the Bad Boy producer “won” against the government.
But from where Hughley’s standing, those people dancing in the streets and shouting for joy over this verdict are proving that there’s a much bigger issue at hand.
“I think that those are people who are morally bankrupt. I say that all the time…even if Puffy wasn’t convicted of the most serious charge, he still whooped a woman in front of everybody,” Hughley said in a recent interview with TMZ. “He wasn’t charged for that and the feds wouldn’t charge him for that, obviously, the feds wouldn’t be involved in something like that. But it speaks to who we are as a society that we could celebrate [that]. Even if he isn’t guilty of the crimes charged, he’s still a horrible dude.”
He went on to say that seeing folks take pride in this only speaks to how society deals with things nowadays and said that there’s a difference between seeing someone get justice and being congratulatory in the way that it was displayed now.
He later added: “I can root for a man to get justice, that’s different from celebrating this verdict…You can be a defense attorney and have to do your job, that don’t mean you celebrate it.”
