Babies born in 2020 came into the world in the middle of a global pandemic. COVID-19 kept us wearing masks, staying home and drowning in Lysol and hand sanitizer. It also taught us how to be tough, as many families dealt with loneliness, isolation and the painful loss of loved ones.

Now, five years later, as these “COVID babies” prepare to start kindergarten, the internet has a couple of words of warning to the educators who will be trying to teach them their letters and shapes this year – watch out.
TikTok user @iheart.desssssy_ warns that this year’s incoming kindergarteners will be stepping into class like this in the fall:

TikTok user Smart Azz Auntie believes we should all be concerned that kids who were cooped up for the first few years of their lives are getting ready to be unleashed on the rest of the world.
“Putting a COVID baby in timeout is like locking up a gremlin after midnight. Baby, the damage is already done,” she said in a post. “These kids survived a whole pandemic. Your sticker chart is not scaring them at all.”
“Amen, I approve this message as a parent of a Covid baby going to kindergarten,” wrote one person in the comments.
But if parents are worried about their kids, they might also want to add their teachers to their prayer list. This post from TikTok user Jani Seymon will really put something on their minds.
“I just saw a post that said 2020 COVID babies start Kindergarten this year, and I was like, ‘Aw, their little bad asses.’ And then somebody gonna comment and say, ‘Yeah, us who graduated in high school in 2020 [are] the teachers,’” she said. “Y’all screwed.”
