It’s clear artificial intelligence (AI) is here to stay, and this year, AI has continued developing at a pace no one can truly grasp. 2024 was one crazy year for Black folks, so it’s time we all get prepared for the new year. And what better way to do so than to ask AI chatbots about the future of Black America??

The Root asked three different AI chatbots, ChatGPT, Groq, and Copilot, to gives us their best predictions on political, economic, and social matters concerning Black America. So before you start making your 2025 vision board, take a look at this list of things to keep in mind.
Trump and Black America
With President-elect Donald Trump returning to office next year, ChatGPT predicts racial justice movements like Black Lives Matter (BLM) will continue challenging Trump’s policies, “especially on issues like police reform, voting rights, and systemic racism,” according to the bot. Or... ChatGPT said “there could be a shift if Trump seeks to address specific concerns related to race in an attempt to appeal to Black voters or neutralize opposition.” If this is the case, Trump’s relationship with Black Americans might shift for the better.
Economic Empowerment
Since the pandemic, the country has seen a rise in small businesses, many of which are Black-owned. According to the Office of Advocacy, Black folks own 3.5 million businesses nationwide and employ more than 1.2 million people. With this in mind, Groq predicts Black Americans “may see an increase in economic empowerment.” The AI chatbot continued suggesting this would lead to job growth nationwide, lower poverty rates, and growing of Black wealth.
The Future of DEI
The country has seen the rise of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) draw drastic responses from companies, colleges, and even policy. Microsoft’s Copilot predicts in 2025, while some companies like Walmart have plans to completely scale back from DEI programs, “others will double down on their commitment, leading to a polarized corporate landscape.”
Black People’s Increasing Political Power
According to ChatGPT, “Black Americans are expected to continue increasing their political power.” The AI bot referenced the high levels of Black voter turnout in the most recent elections— notably former President Barack Obama’s two terms and President Joe Biden’s 2020 run— to predict Black voters could play an even more pivotal role in local and national elections starting next year.
Black Voters Voting Differently in the Future
If anything, the 2024 presidential election showed us that Black voters are not a monolith, and AI is starting to recognize this too. With that, Copilot says the country can expect Black voters to be more engaged and even begin “focusing on core issues like economic opportunity, community safety, and educational access.” Does this mean we will see the Black vote split in the future? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Hip-Hop Will Remain on Top
ChatGPT predicts that... surprise, surprise... Black music will remain the forefront of mainstream media. Hip-Hop/rap has dominated the industry for years, and ChatGPT says we can’t expect that to change anytime soon.
Globally, Black Music Will Begin Bending
Although genres like R&B, Hip-Hop, jazz, and country are all Black American music genres, AI predicts that with globalization, Black music “could evolve further into new hybrid forms, integrating influences from African, Latin, and Caribbean music traditions.” We’re already seeing this evolution happen with Afrobeats and other international genres merging with the roots of Hip-Hop and R&B.
Emerging Black Political Leadership
With Black folks still reeling from Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic loss against Trump, AI predicts in 2025, we’ll start to see a new generation of Black political figures emerge. After Trump finishes up his second term, both the Democratic and Republican parties will need to find new leaders, and according to Groq, Black leadership can lead to “more diverse storytelling, more inclusive policies, and a greater sense of representation for Black Americans.”
AI Will Play a Greater Role In Music Production
As AI continues to advance rapidly, ChatGPT says in 2025, we should get used to artificial intelligence playing a role in the music making process. “This could lead to the development of new music styles and tools that artists can use to create innovative sounds,” the bot responded. As far as Black folks go, AI-powered production could “allow Black artists to experiment with more complex soundscapes or automate aspects of songwriting.” On the flip side, concerns about copyright, authorship, and overall authenticity of music will likely rise next year.
Growing Focus on Intersectionality
DEI continues to flood the mainstream society with important concerns from people from diverse backgrounds. In 2025, Groq predicts DEI will begin to focus on intersectionality, the sociological framework where multiple identities— like race, gender, disability, and sexual orientation— can affect the way we see the world. This means Black women, Black LGBTQ+ members, and all other intersecting identities might be pushed to the forefront of the DEI conversation.
Black-Owned Fashion
In terms of fashion, Copilot predicts the fashion industry will continue to push for greater inclusivity. Black models, designers, stylists, and influencers will likely continue to make big waves on the runway. Additionally, the AI chatbot said Black brands will “lead the charge” in creating more sustainable fashion options.
Black Americans and Immigration
ChatGPT predicts the relationship between Black folks and ongoing immigration concerns might get tricky next year. Trump is set on enforcing mass deportation policies, and according to ChatGPT, “if deportation policies become more aggressive, some Black Americans could find themselves caught in debates about who ‘belongs’ in America.” Already, there’s a slight divide within the Black community regarding immigration. More conservative Black Americans “may support stricter immigration controls, particularly in response to economic competition.”
