After the gold medal win, Anthony emotionally spoke about what the win meant for the team and whether or not he'll return to another Olympics.
"I know this is the end. This is it for me. I committed to something. โฆ I committed to this in โ04. Iโve seen the worst, and Iโve seen the best. And I stuck with it. We stuck with it. And Iโm here today, three gold medals later. Iโm excited for me, but also for the other guys who never experienced anything like this," he said. "Coach K, myself, Jerry Colangelo and everybody else who have been a part of this situationโwho have been a part of USAB since Iโve been here.โ
Anthony continued, "I just want to say thank you for allowing me to be one of the leadersโnot just of our team, but of our country. Despite โฆ everything thatโs going on right now in our country, we gotta be united. Iโm glad I did what I did, I stepped up to the challenge. This is what itโs about. Representing our country on the biggest stage that you can be on. America will be great again. I believe that. We got a lot of work to do. Itโs one step at a time. Iโm glad we represented in the fashion that we did.โ
While some people were in Rio vandalizing bathrooms, Anthony, during his spare time, traveled to the favelas of Brazil and played basketball with youngsters. Even when he's abroad, Anthony seems to know how make a difference.
