Cam’ron Breaks Down the Real Reason He’s Suing J. Cole

On his podcast “Talk With Flee,” Cam’ron shared the reason why he decided to sue J. Cole for their failed collaboration.

Last October, Cam’ron shook up the rap world by suing J. Cole for failing to deliver on a collaboration agreement. Now, the Harlem rapper is spilling the beans on exactly why he decided to do that — and it’s more nuanced than you think.

As we previously reported, Killa Cam is seeking $500,000 in compensation from J. Cole after Cole failed to deliver on a collaborative project. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cam’ron claims that he only agreed to collaborate with J. Cole on the song “Ready 24” in exchange for a verse or an interview with the “Work Out” rapper. Cam’ron alleges that Cole did neither.

In a recent episode of his podcast with Revolt, “Talk With Flee,” Cam’ron explained to his co-host, Sen City, and his guests, Freekey Zekey and “Alienated” podcast co-host Larry Smith, the reason why he went so far as to file a lawsuit.

“Being a man is keeping your word. And I know everybody’s busy and everybody has things to do, but if I give you my word four or five times, I gotta do it,” he began.

The “Hey Ma” rapper then explained that he recorded two verses for J. Cole. We reported that the rappers worked on the track “Ready ’24” together, but in the episode, Cam’ron also references the intro he did for Cole’s track “9 5 . s o u t h,” which he says he got done quickly.

However, when Cam’ron buzzed Cole’s line for a verse on a project, the Harlem rapper claimed Cole failed to deliver because he didn’t feel inspired to write a verse. Poking fun at Cole’s spiritual practices, Cam’ron mused that J. Cole said his chakras were not in line.

“I’m exaggerating, but he’s like, ‘The chakra ain’t aligned right now, and the moon is not aligned with the stars. You know, when I write, I gotta put my all into it,” Cam’ron said.

After a frustrating attempt to get Cole to do a record with him, Cam’ron decided to settle for an interview. However, even that was difficult to plan because the “No Role Modelz” rapper wanted it to coincide with his album releases, but his projects kept being pushed back. This led to Cam’ron chasing Cole from 2024 through to 2025 for an interview.

“I’ve got a project coming out in June, let’s do it [the interview] then,” Cam’ron claims J. Cole told him, only to give him the runaround. “Cool, June is coming. ‘Oh, we pushed the album back. I don’t want to just do an interview.’ Alright, cool, now we’ll do it in October.”

But when Cam’ron called in October, it was another no from Cole because of his beef with Kendrick Lamar, which he did not want to bring up in an interview. (In case you don’t remember, before K-Dot went head-to-head with Drake, Cole had sent shots at Lamar too, but quickly backed out of the beef in April 2024.) Cole then agreed to an interview in February, but failed to show up again

Reaching his breaking point, Cam’ron decided to file a lawsuit to receive compensation.

Killa Cam’s explanation for the lawsuit gave fans a fresh perspective on the situation and had people agreeing that Cole should have held up his end of the deal.

“Cole gave Cam the ring around the rosey that’s disrespectful,” wrote one user.

“If this is true ion blame killa. what’s good witchu cole” asked another.

“I 1000% see Cole doing this lmao,” added another.

However, others felt like Cole had reasonable explanations and Cam’ron should have just waited patiently for the moment Cole would feel ready for the interview.

“Cole is good peoples. You just caught him at the wrong time with all the controversy,” commented one user.

“Nah cole had bigger problems that Cam was not understanding. I’m sorry, but he would’ve done it, but he wasn’t ready yet lol,” wrote another.
