Cam Newton has become the talk of the town as of late due to his controversial relationship take. And believe us when we tell you, his take will more than likely annoy you.

As you know by now, Newton has been spewing his thoughts and takes on a myriad of topics thanks to his popular “Funky Friday” podcast. Most recently, during his latest episode which featured “My Wife and Kids” star Parker McKenna Posey, Newton let off his latest wild (read: misogynistic) viewpoint when it comes to relationships — specifically the relationship with his girlfriend Jasmin Brown, the mother of one of his eight children who’s currently expecting another.
In particular, Newton said that he asked Brown for a list of all the men she’d been previously linked to sexually so that he could preempt any sort of embarrassment out in public and so a man wouldn’t have “one up on him.”
“I want to know because before I sit up here and really keep moving and elevating our relationship, I wanna know who got one up on me and if I’m willing to take on that burden,” he explained. “Why I wanna know? If you had any type of relationship, intimacy, experiences that I really know, I need to know that. I’m owed that.”
He later added: “That has nothing to do with insecurity. This is what I want women to understand. If she had been with somebody that was close to me, I would’ve had to respectfully, I’m not there yet. I can’t carry that weight yet. You’re cool, you’re beautiful…but baby that’s my teammate, we see each other too much.”
This take is asinine for various reasons — one of which is due to the fact that Newton is the star athlete in this relationship and, in theory, has access to thousands more options than his girlfriend would. So naturally, once his words hit the social media streets, he was subsequently dragged for filth.
“HE GOT LIKE 11 KIDS AND 37 BABY MAMAS — U CANT BE SERIOUS!!” wrote one user on Instagram.
“She needs his list. Past and present,” said another.
“I’m tired of both of them. She enjoys and loves the embarrassment. He loves to embarrass her. Let them be,” another user wrote.
“This is a man who needs therapy. They are adults. ‘One up on me’ is wild,”
One user noted: “So he wanted a list after not 1 but 2 babies because he needed to know this to see if he should proceed with her or make yet another broken home & move on OPENLY with one of his side chicks. Jasmine girl if you don’t stand up!!!?!?! Cam used to have me as a fan but he has the emotional intelligence of a 19 year old boy & it’s sad!!!”
Over on Twitter, folks were a bit more irate at the former NFL star.
“Cam Newton a whole ass clown and all his takes on relationships just be goofy sh*t,” wrote one user.
“It’s something wrong with Cam Newton . Mentally,” said another.
Added one other user: “I want Cam Newton to be banned from having a podcast. His opinions are what’s destroying the community.”
