Brownstone Singer Charmayne Maxwell Dead at 46

R&B singer Charmayne Maxwell from the ’90s group Brownstone died Saturday evening at the age of 46. Maxwell’s mother-in-law, whose son is music producer Carsten “Soulshock” Schack, told the newspaper that Maxwell died from a fall.

According to TMZ, Maxwell died after she fell onto a wine glass and cut her neck. Schack found her bleeding, still with a pulse, and rushed his wife to the hospital, but she died on the way.

Brownstone rose to fame after Michael Jackson discovered the group. Their hits included “If You Love Me” and “Grapevyne.” Maxwell and Schack were together for over 20 years and met when he was hired to produce the group’s album. The couple has a 10-year-old son.
