Fashion Week season has descended upon us, and after New York, London and Milan held our attention hostage (and flooded our feeds), our eyes are now glued to Paris. This, my friends, is the perfect moment to dissect the subtle, yet oh-so-crucial, difference between being fashionable and being stylish. Yes, there is a difference! But what is the difference? TikTok’s own Kwame Sarpong masterfully explains what it means to be stylish in a viral video: “Outside of a (celebrity’s) amazing red carpet looks, what are they wearing on their day-to-day that you can say is an iconic look?” The terms are often confused, but being stylish is a higher form of self-expression, he explains than simply being fashionable. Fashionable is following trends. Inspired by Sarpong’s gospel, we’ve crafted our own roster of the most stylish and most fashionable celebs. Let the playful judgment commence.

Stylish: Solange
Let’s start by pointing out the obvious. Solange is incredibly stylish; her looks are usually very clean, but always very chic. Heads turned as she headed to the Ferragamo fashion show in Milan this past week!
Fashionable: Zendaya

Now, Jodie Turner-Smith is one celeb who will always give us an incredible look like this feathery dress she wore to the Burberry show during London Fashion Week. However, this isn’t a sense of style she only carries on the red carpet; she really is this cool.
Fashionable: Marsai Martin
Hollywood princess Marsai Martin is definitely a celebrity who is incredibly fashionable. Martin always has a glamorous fit for red carpet events, and it is so exciting to watch her fashion evolve.
Stylish: Rihanna
There is no doubt that Rihanna is one of the most stylish celebrities on the scene. She has given us many iconic street style looks and shifted the fashion scene for pregnant women.
Fashionable: Giveon
At Paris Fashion Week, Giveon gave us a nice fashion moment, but we don’t have a sense of his style outside of glamorous events.
Stylish: A$AP ROCKY
It only makes sense that Rihanna’s boo is just as stylish as the pop icon herself, and A$AP Rocky is always pulling off a great street style moment.
Fashionable: Damson Idris
It can get boring seeing male celebrities turn up to events in the same black suits all the time, but Damson Idris is one male celebrity who we can count on to give us a good, fashionable moment.
Stylish: Doechii
Adorning herself with bold accessories and a mix of colors, Doechii has a unique sense of style. She honestly might be one of the most stylish rappers in the game right now.
Fashionable: Beyoncé
We don’t get many stylish moments from Beyoncé, but the Queen Bey has had many fashionable moments when at glamorous events, like this all-denim outfit she wore to Paris Fashion Week.
Stylish: Taylor Russell
Even though she keeps it casual and lowkey, Taylor Russell has a very effortless sense of style. Wrapping herself in layers and long trench coats that are often buttoned to the top, Russell makes every outfit look the most chic.
Fashionable: Cardi B
Another very fashionable star is Cardi B. She never fails to give us a wow moment on a red carpet with the bold looks that she pulls off. At New York Fashion Week, she wore a gorgeous fur coat with sexy lace up boots.
Stylish: Tyler, The Creator
Tyler, the Creator, has a preppy sense of style and has been very influential on the streetwear scene since he first made it big in the hip-hop group Odd Future. A fan of pastel colours and unique knitwear, Tyler, The Creator, stays fly.
Fashionable: Keith Powers
Another male actor who isn’t afraid of giving us a fashionable moment on the red carpet is Keith Powers. Keep the fashion moments coming, Mr Powers!
Stylish: Erykah Badu
Erykah Badu has been giving us stylish looks throughout her whole career, and her swag just cannot be replicated.
Stylish: Pharrell Williams
Pharrell might have had some questionable style moments, like the time he wore a really big hat to the 2014 Grammys… but the singer most defintiely has a sense of style that is unique to him. There’s a reason he’s the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton. He’s got style.
