At the tour’s Atlanta stop, Brandy was performing one of her hit songs, “Best Friend.”As she made her way up the stairs to close out her set, who was waiting at the top with open arms? Her best friend and little brother, Ray J. The hit record, famously known as a dedication to her best friend, Ray J, hit a little differently that night.

When Brandy reached the top of the stairs, she was met with a warm embrace from her brother and an overwhelming round of applause from the audience. Though the appearance may have surprised fans, it was clearly a reunion of the two siblings.

According to entertainment blogger Kempire, the Norwood siblings have been estranged for quite some time. “Some of you may not even know there was any sort of estrangement between Brandy and Ray J,” he shared. “But Ray J has said in multiple interviews and talked about the estrangement.” Kempire explains that Ray J once said his family was “embarrassed by him” and even “jealous of him.”

While Ray J has made some off-the-wall commentary over the last few years, Kempire stated that he was actually the one who first discussed the tour publicly, even telling The Breakfast Club that Brandy should close out the show. That interview reportedly caused a rift between Brandy and Monica. So, seeing Ray J on stage was a moment of healing for the famous siblings and best friends.

Following the viral clip, social media couldn’t get enough of the Norwood reunion.

“You can tell they both needed that hug,” one Threads user wrote.

Another added, saying, “Brother-sister hugs are something else. Especially when your little brother gets bigger than you. This hug was needed.”
