There’s been a lot of talk about Brandy Norwood and the ins and outs of her personal and professional life lately, thanks in large part to her recently released memoir “Phases.” Now, she’s opening up about her brother Ray J and the status of their relationship.

As we previously told you, the relationship between Brandy and Ray J has been strained for years, thanks to his often wild behavior and headline-making moments. Ray himself has even said on numerous occasions that while he loves his sister, he feels like he’s an embarrassment to her and the family and that he rarely comes around just to keep things copacetic.
While Brandy has rarely said anything negative, if at all, about her brother, she’s clapped back when necessary and done what she can to distance herself from Ray’s crazy antics. The most recent incident happened just last month between the siblings and rappers Cam’ron, Shyne and Ma$e.
Now, the singer is letting folks in on where things stand in a new interview with Parade Magazine. In it, she discussed—among many things—her last conversation with Whitney Houston, her upbringing, her musical “beef” with Monica and how she and Ray J manage their relationship now. Noting that he wasn’t present at her recent Walk of Fame ceremony, she explained that although there is “distance” between the two of them, her feelings and overall love for him would never go away.
“There is distance right now. There are a few things that he’s been doing in the public eye that I don’t condone, and I just feel like loving him from afar right now is best for me and my peace,” she explained. “But my life with Ray and my connection with him is all throughout the book, and my love for him never wavers.”
Ray J has yet to respond to Brandy’s words.
