“We could have been better. We should have been better,” Brown said in the interview, according to a press release.

Brown and Whitney Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, died in July 2015 after being put into a medically induced coma after she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her Atlanta home. Like her mother, Bobbi Kristina was a drug user, and Brown said he blamed both himself and Houston for that.

Bobbi Kristina’s toxicology report showed traces of marijuana, alcohol, “a cocaine-related substance,” sedatives, anti-anxiety medications and morphine.

“It’s not a mystery to me. The same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney,” Brown told Roberts.

When the subject of Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, came up, it was clear that Brown feels he knows something about her death.

“He knows what happened,” Brown said. “I don’t know what happened that night. But he does.”

The 20/20 interview will air 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, on ABC.
