On Saturday (Sept. 13), REFORM Alliance, a non-profit criminal justice reform organization co-founded by Jay-Z and Meek Mill, hosted a charity gala in Atlantic City packed with an all-star guestlist. However, it’s a picture of Beyoncé sitting across from Ivanka Trump and her husband, businessman Jared Kushner, that has folks on X talking.

In the post, Beyoncé is smiling at the Trump eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, who has her back towards the camera, and this was enough for Black Twitter to share their disappointment.

“Beyoncé is really hanging out with the Trump family, the same week his party is trying to incite people to kill leftists. Her true colors are showing,” wrote one user.

A lot of folks on Black Twitter took this seating arrangement as a confirmation of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s political alignments:

“Beyoncé being MAGA is wild. All that campaigning for Kamala was clearly a front. Sitting at the same table with Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner during this political climate is actually disgusting. Jamie Foxx, Odell (Beckham), and Kevin Hart were also there,” posted another user.

One user posted that Beyoncé is ruining her legacy by aligning herself with Jay-Z’s business ventures:

“I wish Bey would separate herself from Jay and all his bull****. She’s gonna tarnish her legacy all behind his camel looking a**.”

But another user was quick to point out that, being Jay-Z’s wife, Beyoncé would have the same political beliefs as her music mogul hubby:

In response to the backlash, the Beyhive went on X to defend Beyoncé by saying that she had no decision in which table she was seated:

“Arguing that Beyoncé sat beside Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner is peak joblessness. When has Beyoncé sitting beside anyone mean they are friends? Not even at The Grammy’s where she is most recognized. Y’all still sit at work in the same org with your misogynistic and racist colleagues. Lol,” posted one fan.

In rebuttal to the Beyhive’s defense, one user posted that, being co-host of the event, Jay-Z would have had a say in the guest list.

The pictures have left a sour taste in Black Twitter’s mouths, with even a fan of Beyoncé saying that Beyoncé deserves all the criticism she gets for aligning herself with Trump and Kushner:
