Black Stars’ Best Red Carpet Fashion at the 2024 Governors Awards

Jurnee Smollett, Jon Batiste and Kerry Washington were among the Black stars who dominated the red carpet at the 2024 Governors Awards.

As Black Hollywood begins its awards season journey, one of the first stops on this very long road is the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences’ 15th Governors Awards. On Sunday, the biggest names in film and television gathered at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood to honor several of the entertainment industry’s most influential artists and executives.

An especially emotional tribute was presented to the late Quincy Jones, who was posthumously awarded an honorary Oscar. His award was accepted by his children, including actress Rashida Jones, who read the speech her father had prepared.

It seems fitting that on a night when Jones’ legacy was celebrated Black Hollywood brought their absolute best. There are Black stars’ best red carpet looks from the 2024 Governors Awards.
