Black Internet Responds to Cam’ron Suing J. Cole For This Surprising Reason

The internet has a lot to say after Cam’ron sued J. Cole over a failed collaboration project.

Forget about a rap battle! Rappers are going straight to the courtroom nowadays. First, Drake lost his defamation suit against Universal Music Group after his loss to Kendrick Lamar in their summer-long rap battle in 2024. Now, Cam’ron is suing J. Cole over a failed collab? Let’s talk about it.

In 2024, Cole dropped his fourth mixtape, “Might Delete Later.” One song on the project, “Ready ’24,” was a collaboration with Cam’ron, who not only featured on the song but also wrote his own verse. However, according to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cam’ron claimed that he only featured on the song in exchange for Cole collaborating with him on a future project.

In court documents, Cam’ron states that the song “Ready ’24” was recorded in 2022. After the track was completed, Cam’ron spent 2023 and 2024 trying to get in contact with Cole so they could agree on a reciprocal project—like having Cole as a guest on his “It Is What It Is” Podcast or for a music collab. Cam’ron alleges that Cole never held his end of the deal and was never available. Yikes.

The “Hey Ma” rapper is now claiming that he was never properly paid for his work on “Ready ’24” and is seeking compensation. Specifically, he wants $500,000, an amount he estimated based on the song’s earnings, per court documents.

Of course, when this news hit the internet streets, folks had a lot to say and a lot of jokes to make about the lawsuit.

“Bro suing over a pinkie promise,” one user quipped.

“Cam tryna get the first courtmandated feature, I can’t knock it,” added another.

“F*** it, I’m about to sue somebody now,” added another user with laughing emojis.

Other users criticized Cam’ron for taking the issue to court instead of settling it with Cole himself.

“Cole don’t seem like the type to intentionally do this. Just reach out to son and see what’s up, lmfao,” commented @antnameless.

@DaylonCart18756 wrote that the situation is a very petty reason to sue somebody: “So does Cam not have his number or something? He could get in contact with him or anybody on his team, lol? This seems extremely petty.”

However, while most users shook their heads at Cam for suing Cole, others pointed out that this is business, and Cole not showing up for Cam is unprofessional.

“People wanna say Cam is lame for suing. Suing someone is not Hip Hop. People need to grow up. Business is business. If they had an agreement, and that was not honored, that’s when you get the courts involved, like an adult,” wrote one user.

“Suing is crazy, but I get it when the money funny it’s time to end the jokes,” added another.
