It looks like Sean “Diddy” Combs isn’t the only rapper who might be looking for President Donald Trump’s help with their legal drama. On Oct. 6, President Trump told reporters that Diddy’s representatives reached out to him requesting a pardon after his October 3 sentencing in his federal sex crimes case.

Now, Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz is pulling out all the stops to get Trump’s attention in hopes that he will use his pardon power to get him a deal.
According to Legistorm, Boosie (born Torence Ivy Hatch Jr.) is calling on Washington, D.C.-based lobbyists J.M. Burkman & Associates to get his federal gun case in front of Trump. The case began following a May 2023 arrest during a trip to San Diego. Hatch was pulled over after being identified in a social media clip wearing a gun on his waist.
Local law enforcement tracked Boosie down with the help of helicopters, which led to a traffic stop where officers found two firearms inside his car. Although Hatch’s charges were initially filed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the state ultimately dismissed the case, which was taken up by federal prosecutors.
In an Aug. 4 post on X, Boosie announced that he’d pleaded guilty in the case and asked fans to pray for him.
“Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case,” he posted. “I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life but ‘God don’t make mistakes’ n im tired of fighting?? Talked to my family n this is the right decision?? To all my fans across the world, say a prayer for ya boy n go get the new album.”
Ahead of the “Wipe Me Down” rapper’s scheduled sententencing on November 21, some on social media have already tried to make President Trump aware of Boosie’s case.
“Hey @realDonaldTrump, free my boy!!!!” wrote someone on X.
But others were wondering how a successful 40-something rapper got in this kind of legal trouble in the first place.
“You’re cooked and you deserve it. Sorry but if you’re 50, rich and still making dumb decisions.. who can really feel bad?,” wrote someone on X.
It will be interesting to see if Trump decides to use his pardon Boosie, especially since lobbyists from the firm he’s using have had a some legal drama of their own. In 2022, Jack Burkman and Jacob Wohl pled guilty to telecommunications fraud after a case was brought against them in Ohio for making illegal robocalls targeting Black voters during the 2020 election.
