Black Internet is Hot Over What Ice Spice Wore to a Kids’ Film Premiere

Fans and TikTok creators slammed Ice Spice’s sheer red-carpet look, calling it inappropriate for a children’s film and labeling it a calculated PR stunt.

Fans have been ranting about the latest Spongebob movie screening — but not because of the beloved cartoon’s quirky storyline. Rapper Ice Spice is facing online backlash after gracing the red carpet in a revealing look, and social media has a lot to say about her wildly inappropriate attire for a film that’s geared towards children.

Ice Spice, 25, attended “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” in New York City on Wednesday (Dec. 17); she makes her voice acting debut in the film. The Bronx rapper voices a fish character in Bikini Bottom and also contributes to the film’s soundtrack, “Big Guy.” She joins a cast that includes Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, Arturo Castro, and George Lopez.

For the red carpet event, Ice Spice wore a sheer white Blumarine dress that left little to the imagination. The look featured a sweetheart neckline, tulle panels at the hips and back and a ruffled skirt that exposed her whole backside.

Underneath, she paired the dress with an ivory bra and matching thong — both visible through the lace fabric. The outfit quickly became a head-turner for all the wrong reasons.

Social media wasted no time in slamming her for the look, with plenty of TikTok creators questioning the decision to wear such a revealing outfit to a family-friendly premiere. TikTok creator @KiwiBeauty took a moment to call out the “Deli” rapper.

“What about the children, Ice Spice? What about the children?” Kiwibeauty said, showing a red-carpet photo of the Bronx rapper.

“Her team thought it was cute for her to wear bikini bottoms to “The SpongeBob Movie” premiere because it would be like, ‘Oh, Ice Spice is wearing bikini bottoms to Bikini Bottom,” the creator said, adding that children were clearly present at the event.

“So to her PR team and her stylist and anybody involved, come to the front of the room…you’re fired,” the creator said. She later adds that it was not worth making this moment a PR stunt.

TikTok users weighed in, with one commentator asking, “Quick question, why are we marketing Ice Spice to CHILDREN!?! What has she done in her short career that makes it a good idea to sell her to kids?”

Other creators shared the same sentiment, such as TikTok creator @cliffrandomrants, who believed that Ice Spice’s dress was a scheme that was set up by her PR team.

“I swear what Ice Spice wore to the ‘SpongeBob’ movie premiere clearly just told me that this was a PR stunt,” the creator stated. “Because first of all, when we think of SpongeBob, why would you even wear a mesh dress? That was one of the most scandalous dresses she ever wore.”

He goes on to explain that she was doing whatever it took to stay relevant, even pointing out how uncomfortable she looked while introducing herself to the audience.
